Hp USB color laserjet will not install

Tryed to let win 7 do automatically. Failed numerous times. Try the Pcl 6 driver on the hp website. Hp sitee says it should install. Running 32 bit os pc is on a network. Printer is a hp color sphere laserjet 3000. I am getting a 3000 printer icon. The icon is inactive. Any help.

Noticed on their website that they have the driver for it for Windows 7 x32, AND a universal print driver (the PL6 you talked about?) Maybe you should try the regular driver as opposed to the PL6 thing? And make sure its for 32 bit Windows 7.

    From their website:
Even if a Universal Printer Driver option(s) is listed, this may not be the best driver choice for your product. UPDs are 'one-size-fits-all' drivers created to facilitate product installations in a commercial or business environment where there are multiple printer or product types and a series of drivers might be needed.

    Oh, found this, too.

Well, to ensure that the right product is being chosen (I picked the plain LaserJet 3000, and not the other permutations) go here and follow the instructions, then try out what I said earlier.

And can't go wrong with their own forum.

Try leaving the printer USB unplugged, leave the power cord plugged in and the printer ON, boot the computer and let windows recognize new hardware and it will install the drivers it has, then plug in the USB cord and it should work.

Gave it another hour. Pulled printer out of service. Man what a nightmare. I thought NT was tough to work with. Thanks people for the input.
