    OS: XP HP 1200 Printer

I know this is for windows seven forum but i think you may be able to help.

This is a printer i have at my business and for YEARS it has been working with out a problem (mostly prints work orders)

Recently every few prints i get an error message, i have to either restart the computer or restart the printer to get it to print. Just tells me error printing document.

What steps should i take to investigate this problem. I dont have barley any experience dealing with printer issues.

I dont think the printer is the issue as it still prints just seems like something is happening or getting confused every so many prints.

HOW THE PRINTER IS HOOKED UP.

I have it hooked up to the main pc where the program runs where we print the work orders from, then i have that printer shared on the network. The error does not happen to any PC specifically it can happen to all.

You may need to update the printer drivers, you can get them here:

HP Business Inkjet 1200 Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

In order to get better help, we do need further information.

What error message do you get?

Have you checked the ink levels?

    How is it networked?

Also, as you yourself said, you've had it years. Have you considered replacing it? There are some excellent business laser printers on the market.

It may have an error message ill post it when i get to work tomorrow,

even when its low on ink it still always printed.

have it on the main pc then just shared so the other computers can see it.

the great thing about this printer is it prints like a champ and you dont have to go threw an ink cartage every month or so. I put 1 cartridge an forget the date i put it in, and we print a bit of work orders daily.

There is a bit to choose from, i am wondering if i should go with the universal driver since its as recent as 2011 vs all the other ones being 2003 and older.
