No i did not. I will right now. I did run the Intel CPU checking software. Results were fine. I did not do too much some chip tests and about 3 minutes of stress tests.

I never shut down (crashed) while using Prime 95 no matter what the temps were, again vcore was up. I also never turned off Sidestep in BIOS so it allowed for thermal control. The Intel app ran some stress tests and got cores 4 an 5 real hot (just like Prime 95). Only when the Vcore voltage was below 1.35 or 1.4 do I crash. I am completely stable. Either that Vcore sensor (can't remember what it is called) is damaged on the CPU or the motherboard is not reading the voltage properly. Knowing that I am not drawing enough power could hopefully equal a power issue. (one of raid ssds failed when I was experimenting with turbo mode, sidestep and vcore voltage).

I just baffles me that a processor could brick so easily. I would RMA it if it were in fact dead, but you cannot if you have overclocked it.

I had 2 Geforce GTX 590's (two eight pin connectors on each card) the were not working properly with SLI about a month ago (they were fine, however, for some time). If I switched jumpers from one card to the other (turned off power with the x16 lane switch) each card worked great. Truthfully one of those cards works insanely good on it't own. I also have 3 Evga 680's that I haven't unboxed yet. I will throw those in today while I am doing the PSU switchand put these 7970's in another build.

Not sure how to test the case (never have) with Prime95. Is that another app?

Yes, I meant TCase. Okay. I thought there was a setting for it.

I'll run Prime95 right now. I suspect it shows up in the wordpad file.

yes that max temp was reached in core's 4 and 5 the rest were fine. The temp could be high as I have upped the voltage to all cores. I am wondering if I should run it again. I mean I know processors have thermal sensors which won't allow them to go beyond 91 (sidestep helps too). I don't believe heat is a huge problem in modern processors other than decreasing their lifespan. I could be completely wrong especially if only 2 cores are receiving the brunt of the heat. I usually am off with my logic most of the time LoL.

It was the power. I just installed my new PSU. The CPU is getting 140 watts versus 20. I went from 1200w to 1500w. Twice the cost. I am still stress testing though. I will leave Prime95 to run overnight. While was in my box i forgot that I am also powering my PCI lanes and RAM. That is not that much but it adds to the overall power consumption. Although the PSU could have been going bad. I use Corsair all the time, the AX1200 specifically. They have one 12v rail and a ton of PCI sockets (although someone that would use all of them would need much more power). I just threw three new geforce 680's in there. I am going to swap my 7970's in another build.

Can't wait until Ivy Bridge.....
