Mouse will not open any programs for one user account

Windows 7 Home Premium - I have 2 user accounts. My cursor dissappeared so I logged into the other user account to google the cursor problem. Mouse/cursor was fine in that user account. When I logged back into the first account the cursor was there and I could move it around, but it won't open anything either by double-clicking or right clicking. Can someone help me please? Thanks.

I have seen this problem when registry entries for the mouse become corrupted. Some people have fixed this problem by running CCleaner, which you might like to try, though I tend to find registry cleaners rather unreliable.

Another option might be to go into the device manager and uninstall the mouse, then reboot your computer. If your mouse is a generic mouse windows will reinstall the driver.

If you have a proprietry mouse, you might need to insert the driver CD after rebooting.

Don't use a registry cleaner - can cause more damage than it fixes.

I'd go with Tanya's advice first.....

Thank you both for responding. I went to Device Manager and selected Mouse. It asked me for permission to make changes, and then gave a menu choice of "Troubleshoot". I selected that and received the message "USB device might have stopped responding - FIXED". Working fine now. Thanks again.
