Windows boot error code 0x45d
I have recently having problems with booting Windows 7 on my computer. When I load windows, it goes into the boot screen, and stays there indefinitely, which for a while, I could not figure out the problem. I'll start from when I started having these problems. About a week prior to this happening, I partitioned my hard drive and loaded Ubuntu onto that partition, but still regularly used Windows for that week with no problems. Later, I had logged onto my computer one night with no problems, then proceeded to load firefox. I got opened a youtube video and my computer started to act extremely slow. I was able to press start and shut down, as I had no other choice. When it rebooted, it went to the boot screen and stayed there. For about three weeks I could not figure out why I was having this problem, I even ran a memory test. Once I tried loading it again and it recommended a diagnostic utility which I had proceeded to load. After it was complete, it had a long list of the diagnostics that it ran and told me if there was an error or not. All the way on the bottom it said "Error Code 0x45d A patch is preventing the system from starting" but the utility had made it appear that it fixed the problem. I restarted to windows and off coarse, the same booting problem. I am thankful that I have linux to use in the mean time, but why do you think I am having this problem? I have researched the error code and have found multiple people telling saying that it is the hard drive failing or already failed. I don't see how this could be as Ubuntu works fine and my laptop is only about 7 months old. I take care of this laptop it still looks brand new and I know what NOT to do to make sure the hard drive lasts (i.e. moving it around when on, ect.) I know people say hard drives go and it doesn't matter how old it is, but it is still only 7 months, I would expect it to last longer.
Here are my laptop specs:
Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E520
Intel core i5-2410M
8GB ddr3 ram 1333mhz
500 gb 7200rpm hard drive
and all the other basic things
Also, I have one last related issue. I have tried to load into a complete computer diagnostic through the bios, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. While the computer is on the Lenovo screen, I have hit the function keys (with and without the Fn key) but the computer ignores it. How do I load the bios, boot setup, ect on this laptop?
Thanks for any help you can give!!
