What exactly are you trying to achieve? Are you just tinkering or ?

I stopped buying computer hardware locally when I found out years ago I could buy it on the Internet cheaper and have it shipped to my door step.

I'm current building two new systems for my game crazy sons!

You know the new 3D stuff.

By reading reviews on the FX4100 I see some people able to OC that CPU from 4.5 to 5GHz range with a good PSU and cooling and I was thinking I could never come close to that with the CPU I have now lol

It would be about the same I believe according to what I read up in google, you be better off buying a Phenom II X6 1045T would be a better option in my opinion, here's a trusted supplier I know and also is based in Canada were you live so should be faster shipping then it would be to the u.s. So i linked it to the Canadian page and it would cost you 159.98 CAD and it's in stock

Interesting article. So, would these be the best processors for his application?

    Old Type:
Amazon.com: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor, Black Edition (HDE00ZFBGRBOX): Electronics

    New Type:
    http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-8150-Ed...dp_ob_title_ce

x6 core would be an upgrade to his x4 core. So, would run future multi-threaded software faster.

Since his Mobo supports 125w TDP. He would only need to buy a processor, and use the old heatsink and fan.

Here's a comment taken from the article Quickdraw supplied.

"The Thurban And Zosma cores posses a feature called "turbo core overclocking". This feature allows the CPU to run in two different modes, When an application does not require all of the cores to be enabled, half of the cores can be disabled while the remaining cores can be automatically overclocked by up to 500Mhz. When an Application then requires all cores to be enabled the CPU will revert to all cores being in use and return to the standard clock speed."
