driver's uninstall procedure crashes

I'm having major trouble with my audio card driver (M-Audio Delta) so I wanted to uninstall it. I went to "Programs and Features" and click uninstall. It immediately gave me this error:

>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (469)
PAPP: Delta Family
PGUID:A4819699- ...
@Windows XP Service Pack 1 (7601) BT_OTHER 23860.3056

And failed to complete.

So my question is, can I forcibly uninstall this driver now?

You can go into Device Manager, select the sound card, right click and select Properties.
Go to the Drivers Tab, and select "Uninstall".

Optional: Shut down the PC and physically remove the card (or go into the BIOS and disable the sound chip), then restart the computer.
Check for any leftover folders associated with the sound card and delete them.
Then shut down, install the card again (or activate), and start up.

Note: Windows may find the "new hardware" and install a driver for it when you start up. It is usually a generic sound driver left over from a previous installation. But usually in a clean install it won't install anything at all.
