SSDs have a 'bleak' future, researchers say

The purpose is to:

A) Gauge the satisfaction (or lack thereof) of current or past users of an SSD.
B) Gauge the interest level among those who do not have one

Vote, then add any additional thoughts in a post below.

If you own one and like it, tell us the reason(s).
If you own(ed) one and hate it, was it defective? Just not what you expected?
If you don't own one but want one, why haven't you bought one yet? (Price too high, waiting for higher capacity drives, etc.)
If you just plain don't want one, what are your reasons?

Hi profdlp, I suspect you might guess my vote

I have 5 SSDs. The only way you can get mine from me is to pry my cold dead fingers away from them!

I have one in my desktop and one in my laptop (also HDD - dual bay:)).

Do not want to run either without a SSD, the performance increase is significant.
Plan on getting another one soon, then will have 3 of 5 computers in the house with SSDs. The other two are single hard drive bay set ups and may get one later.

Everything runs better/faster with SSDs, OS, all apps, updates, virus scans, etc.

I have two laptops with SSD's for the C drive. I really enjoy how fast they are on boot. I went and bought a 240Gig SSD for my main laptop and replaced the D drive which really speeds up the machine.

Really expensive at first but now the price is coming down to a more reasonable price.

But expensive is all relative. I paid $800 for a 30 Megabyte Hard disk quite a few years ago. (MEGABYTES)

Just recently switched the OS drive on my Gaming rig. I have been very happy with the results.

Although, I will say this;

This is still a fairly new technology. All the bugs have not been worked out. Just like any other component for a computer, there are definitely compatibility issues with the SSD media. Of course this isn't talked about very often, because no one has taken the time to test components to ensure stability and know what plays well with what. I am certain that after about 4-5 more years, all of the issues with the SSD media will be worked out just in time for the next new storage media to be released.
