    Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S

I am intending to upgrade my Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S from vista to win 7. I ran the win 7 upgrade advisor report but it did not show the Matshita bd-mlt uj-210s BD ROM drive - which is installed and working in vista - at all.
Can anyone please tell me if this drive is compatible with win 7 and if and where drivers are available? According to Device Manager, the current driver is provided by Microsoft version 6.0.6002.18005.
    Thanks.

I have moved all my Vaios from Vista to 7 with no problem. You may try Matsushita BD-MLT UJ-210S Firmware 1.06 - TechSpot Drivers if you cant find the driver on the sony website.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

There doesn't appear to be a Windows 7 driver available for this drive.

However, you could try a Vista driver and install it in Windows Vista SP2 Compatibility Mode, as there are occasions when Vista and 7 drivers are very similar.

You could also try this firmware update from Sony: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...=2261&os_id=16

Thanks seavixen 32 and o221e. My firmware is already v 1.06. Just cannot understand why Win 7 upgrade advisor failed to show it.

Windows 7 had built-in drivers for internal optical drives, so you'll be fine. The Upgrade Advisor is a nice tool, but it is hardly the final word on upgradeability.
