Here is a shot in the dark. In BIOS, Disable Cool 'n Quiet. Test.

Ahh Dells.. how I hate there form of BIOS Updating (almost every Dell Desktop I've used required floppy for the darn BIOS Updating!).

Anyways, as said previously. The service tag can be found on a sticker somewhere on the desktop, I believe its also listed in the BIOS as well. (has been for all of the Dell's I've used.)

Was in the BIOS on over 7 different Dells. (ranging from 10 years old, to 1 year old)

Maybe its just BIOS Specific.

old keyboard doesn't work with windows 7
The old keyboard is from an old Dell XPS from 15 years ago. It worked fine on my last computer a Dell GX620 with XP. My new computer a locally made one in an HP case has windows 7. Old keyboard isn't even recognized. Is it now obsolete or something. Microsoft seems devoted to making hardware...

homegroup network doesn't accept password
I have two computers, both use Windows 7, connected second computer to homegroup network but first one wouldn't connect to second. have now reloaded Windows on first computer due to other issues. Both computers see each other on network but neither will accept password to connect.
