another interesting example of someone thinking they've broken their computer by messing around with it. they then start kicking themselves (oh why did i do that?) and try all sorts of complicated solutions (swapping mobos?), only to fail, so panic sets in followed by a quick scramble to the forums where they breathlessly rattle off a quick post having lost control of grammar and punctuation, only to find that the problem was due to a loose power cable to the monitor.
well, that's how you learn, i suppose.
gilly, i'm glad you've solved your problem, this post is not a dig at yourself, i am merely making an observation - i've done similar things myself in the past, and i'm sure i will continue to do so...

I can remember many instances of needing to turn on a power strip to fix "I can't print/boot".
Recently, I emptied a closet looking for an old DVD drive when mine wouldn't spin up. It wasn't connected following a CPU cooling fan replacement.
It happens.

How about forgetting to plug in the AC cord, after T/S a large peripheral ?
My last was meant as a joke, about "the manual", nothing more...
It was not intended as a slur, or any other kind of 'mean' intent...

It definitely happens to everybody, at some time or another!

Hee is oe my lcd would not start up it would flash bright and then I could hear the logon sound but no [picture. so I presss resart button sometimes 3 or 4 times then it would come opn. Finally one day after pressing it 6 times I decided it was broke. Not having a backup I rushed out to best buy and bought another. Everything worked great. So I decide to sell as is on the bay. I take the old one to the garage and clean it up, take my ai compressor and blow thru the vents. I then brig it upstairs and after a day decide out of the blue to plug it in too see what happens so as to explain the problem accurately to potential buyers only to watch it come right on work in dual display mode, turn off and turn right back on. So I now own 2 working Lcd's.Why does it work now? Hell if I know dust bunnies?
