Can I Use a 3 tb Internal Drive on This System?

I've got Windows 7 Pro 32 bit running on a Gigabyte EP45-US3P mboard. Is there any way I can use a 3tb internal drive in this system?

A hard drive doesn't require any special programs in there, should be no problems with throwing a 3TB drive inside of your system. All you need to do is buy another SATA cable for the hard drive, those are cheap and plentiful.
Just be sure you have an empty hard drive bay to put the drive in and it's seated properly during/after installation.

Thats not always the case with large 3TB or more HDDs. and older motherboards

Thanks, everyone. The Gigabyte 3tb+ Unlock workaround doesn't seem to apply to this mboard and chipset. Am I missing something?

And by the way, this drive is for data storage only; I'm not trying to boot from it.

OP, here. Good news, I got it to work. Vaidas3's link to [H]ard Forum showed a thread that contained a comment about using a Jmicron controlled port instead of the ICH10R. My mb has six ports controlled by the ICH10R controller and a pair through the Gigabyte SATA2 controller.

Just for grins, I plugged the 3tb HDD into one of the two Gigabyte SATA2 controller ports and the system recognized it perfectly. Even more surprising, after I initialized the HDD, I plugged it back into one of the original ICH10R ports and it still works fine. I didn't load any new drivers, reflash BIOS or anything like that.

Obviously, I'm in a bit over my head here. Can anyone explain why this is working now?
