    I've got 4 and my pf set to 6. I may try reducing it.

    I've got 4 GB of RAM and have reduced my page file to 1024 min and 2048 max without incident.

    I previously let Windows manage it and could just as well left it alone. I don't notice a difference one way or the other.

    That will be fine. I did the same on my 6GB and my 4GB systems. Even 1GB is enough for the pagefile.
