    16GB (15GB Usable) help.


    Hey guys, so the other day I found out one of my Modules was faulty (Corsair Vengeance 16 GB kit) and i took it out and tested the rest and the board DIMM slots, everything else was great.

    So today i received my replacement 4GB Module and at first it was saying 16 GB (12 GB usable) in System, I took all the ram out and reseated the 4 Modules and it showed 16GB in Bios and Memtest86 (which was fine)

    Thing is now it says 16.0GB (15.0GB usable) in Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > System why is that? is it normal?

    Hey Bobby, I did that but no nothing, I opened Resources through task manager and it said that is was holding 1067mb for Hardware.

    I formatted last night, an it has returned back to normal :)

Hello all! I noticed when poking around in my computer settings and hardware information, that my RAM is showing (16Gb), but only 4Gb are "usable". I have been looking all over creation to find out why, but to no avail. I am utilizing: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS, AMD Phenom II x6 1090T,...
So, i'm using 7 ultimate, and I've recently installed16GB of G.skill DDR 1866 mhz memory (2 8GB sticks). I've gone into the BIOS and manually set the speed to 1866, and the system is only showing about half of it as "usable" So the first thing I checked was of course the ram itself. I've reseatted...
They're all start with "~DF". Thousands and thousands of 350KB files. I have to manually delete them.

I noticed that a clean installation of windows 7 64 bit uses 15gb of hard drive is this usual. If so I feel sorry for people with small hard drives who hope to upgrade from XP.
