    external seagate shows folders but no content


    Hi
    Im running w7 ultimate and ran into a problem
    My hard drive in the pc got corrupted and since then the external seagate drive has some peculiar things going on on it.
    Alphabetically all my files/folders on the seagate from a-g show but are empty.
    The remaining alphabetical files from h onwards have contents in them.
    When with the missing folder contents are put into the recycle bin and you click properties...it shows an actual amount of whats in it.
    when you restore the file it shows up again as empty folder.. Never had this problem before..any help much appreciated

    Welcome to the forum
    If your running windows now safe and clean, you can check your external drive for viruses, malwares or anything else that could be the culprit and see if that solves your problem, or you can do a chkdsk

    Thanks for the welcome
    I ran malware bites on it and I also ran a duplicate file/folder check and found that they had been duplicated somehow and the duplications were the empty ones.(DOH!!!!) .So alls well..got the data files back !!!
