    Remove HDD from booting.


    Hello everyone,

    Just rebuilt my computer and loving it so far just have a minor problem that's irking me.
    I have 3 Hard Drives installed. A SSD 64GB / 1TB HDD / 500GB HDD. On the 1TB and SSD I currently have windows installed on both so that I could move the folders ( Music, Documents, etc) to the 1TB without any problems. When the computer starts up it loads the OS, but it loads both saying windows 7. Is it possible to stop the 1TB from booting? I want it to naturally boot up on the SSD. Hopefully I explained everything right.

    You should be able to simply select the device you want to boot from in the bios of the machine, select the SSD as the primary

    Or have you installed 2nd OS with other HDD connected and inadvertantly created a dual boot machine ??

    I don't follow why you need Windows on two drives. I have two HD and the OS in on one and the data storage is on the other. There is no problem accessing the HD that does not have Windows on it.

    The reason i did that is so i could have the documents folder and so on my storage HDD.


    To Pauly - Yeah I've sadly created a dual boot machine.

    Thats OK if your are done with the dual boot it can be removed relatively simply.

    There are different methods to do this i think the easiest is this tutorial, have a look
    MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record

    Seeing as you have large drive capacity i would recommend taking an image backup of your existing system so if you encounter any problems you can reinstall to current state and nothing would be lost
    Also if you do encounter any problems you should be able to recover the MBR without to many problems

    If you wish to do this and suceed you will then be free to format/delete the other drive/s without any problems
