UAC: Lost access to BluRay drive: "Location is not available"
Hello everyone, new member here, hope you guys can assist me...
My LG BH12 Blu-Ray drive has developed a problem. If I put a disc in the drive, the drive title changes in Windows Explorer to indicate the disc title, so that's working OK. AutoRun pops up, and offers to show you the files, etc. If you try to view the files, you get a popup message like this:
Location is not available
D:\ is not accessible
Access is denied.
This is a new PC I built about 2 weeks ago, and the drive has worked fine up until just now. Here's the interesting thing: if I open a Command Prompt with Administrator-level privileges, or if I disable UAC, I can see the drive and access it with no problem.
The research I've done on my own shows others with this problem but no good solutions yet. It appears to be permissions-related; I've verified that my account is still and Admin account. When I go into the properties of the drive, then Security / Advanced / Owner, it says the current owner is "Everyone". If I Edit this, it does not let me assign a new owner (tried my user account, as well as Administrators group).
I've tried uninstalling the drive and re-detecting. I've updated firmware on the drive. I ran "sfc /scannow" and nothing was found. I'm running out of ideas. How about you? =)
