Some of the comments from the users on that page for whom this fix did not work

i had this problem, got this answer on a website, didnt hold out much hope.RUN DISK CHECK.guess what it worked.dont know why.

disk check worked on dell inspiron 1545 running windows 7 ultimate,i dont think this is a battery problem at all.i think its a windows problem.
Or you can just disconnect and reconnect the battery while the computer is on. It worked for me in my Acer Aspire One
For Samsung laptop, may be something similar
I have a samsung and had this same problem. I did what everyone posted, but still didn't work. So, in the search box, on my computer, I typed batterylife and it pulled up the batterylifeextender samsung program ...here you can choose from normal battery life - fully charges to 100% or extended life mode (80% charge)...
Hope this helps some of the samsung people.
You can try these too and see if they work

So the answer to the typical 1st question asked by a support person
"Is it plugged in?" would be, in your case, Nope.

Sometimes the easiest solution is the hardest to find.

Good job on finding a solution to your issue. Now since Varun_T is around, how about Dell replacing the adapter. Is you machine still under warranty?

Samsung Windows 7 plugged in, not charging

Thank you sooo much sscom2012! I have a Samsung laptop and have been going crazy trying to find the setting to fix this. It wouldn't go above 80% charged. Typing in batterylifeextender fixed it right away! I'm already at 100% charged.
