do you think is better to make an os partition that will fitting in ssd?

I use macrium reflect free. Experts recommend it.
Imaging with free Macrium
Be sure you make the winpe rescue disk, not the linux one! The linux one cannot resize on restore

The production of the WinPE recovery CD (which is highly recommended) may take up to 3 hours because Macrium needs to download the 1.7GB WAIK (Windows Application Installation Kit). For your convenience I have uploaded a ready made .iso of the WinPE recovery disc. That can be downloaded in appr. 8 minutes which clearly beats the WAIK download. Once you downloaded and unzipped the folder, you can burn it directly to a CD with e.g. ImgBurn.

I draw your attention to the fact that this WinPE CD can also be used to make images. That may be convenient in case you do not want to install Macrium on your PC.

Why use rescue disc? in which moment?

I prerefer macrium reflect free because

• it's free
• it's simple
• it's flexible (partitions can be resized on restore. And placed on another place on disk)
• it remembers partition type (logical or primary) and if it was active or not.
• It has an option "Fix Boot Problems" on rescue disk. Although I never had to use it because of this Understanding Disk IDs
• images you make can be mounted as virtual disk. So you can browse through the files and copy some files as well (instead of restoring whole image)
  How to browse an Image or 'File and Folder' Backup in Windows Explorer (for macrium V4 but V5 is the same)
• backups can be made from within a live system. It takes a snapshot as it is the moment you start it. You can work on if backup is busy

rescue disc should be made prior to using it LOL ;-)
Of course you can't restore the C-drive if booted from C-drive! So you have to boot from DVD instead. The rescue DVD will boot a mini windows and starts macrium automatically.

BTW all backup software should have a rescue DVD in case you wanna restore the system disk

1. make image of ssd using macrium. Put it on a folder called Q:\backup\ssd
2. make image of HDD500GB using macrium. Put it on a folder called Q:\backup\HDD500GB
3. Swap SSD and HD500GB, so put them in the other computer
4. Boot computer from rescue DVD where SSD is now attached to. Restore the HDD500GB-backup to SSD (delete old parition first in dialog. see point 6 of Restore Partitions with Resize and Reorder)
5. Boot computer from rescue DVD where HDD500GB is now attached to. Restore the SSD-backup to HDD500GB (delete old parition first in dialog)

Drive letter of external usb drive is different in both computers!! And even in rescue dvd!

Can you boot from the DVD disc in another machine? So is the DVD disc bootable at all?

And did you change BIOS temporary (have set DVD drive as first boot device)?
How do I turn my DVD drive on to boot so I can test my rescue disk?
