    SSD Issues

Just received a new OCZ Agility 3 SSD and are having some issues. I've installed the drive and formatted it, I have also tried to update to firmware on it countless times all of which have resulted in 'Firmware Download Failed'. The drives also seems to be disappearing occasionally and requires a restart before it appears again. I want to update the firmware before I clone my old HDD to it. I've tried to do it in safe mode with networking but it hasn't helped. Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

You may find the OCZ forums helpful. With the firmware update there is usually a guide about how to do it. there may be something in there that will help. I haven't updated my Vertex2 in so long I don't remember, but as I recall, the problem may be that there is a partition on the drive.

    Check Bios

Make sure you are running your disks in ACHI mode. That might help.

Also, make sure you are using the MS Ahci driver. My Crucial M4 gives me trouble if I use the AMD Sata Controller driver instead of the MS Ahci driver.

You should be able to update the firmware with their toolbox. It cannot be the primary drive (C), they recommend the MSAHCI drivers. They also have a Linux tool that will help update the firmware. If you haven't already done so, install the OCZ toolbox on your current C drive and try it that way. You will have to have an internet connection.
