    After waking from sleep mode my keyboard letters are messed up.

    When I wake my PC from sleep mode some of the letter keys of my keyboard are changed with numbers. Only restarting PC helps. I noticed this problem some days ago, but before then there was everything OK. I changed key sequence from control panel - text services and input languages - switch keyboard layout to not assigned but the problem is still here. Any sollutions?

    My Pc config:
    Win7 ultimate 6.1.7601 (Win7 RTM), MB: Asus P5Bv, Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20Ghz, Ram: 2GB

    What do you mean that keyboard has numbers do you mean when type something if so it sounds like the filter key this happen when you hold shift too long when your are word or any other office key try and turn your filter key off

    To turn the filter off
    Go start>control panel
    Click on Ease of access
    Click on Make it easier to use keyboard
    Uncheck toggle on filter key

    Hello, I got same problem with my desktop PC:

    MB: ASROCK H61M / U3S3
    Intel G620 2.60GHz
    Genius USB Keyboard KB-110
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    History:
    1. Turn on PC --> keyboard works normally
    NumLock LED: on

    2. No activity, PC go to sleep mode.
    Press keyboard or mouse button to wake up PC, NumLock LED still on
    ---> these characters change:
    m -> 0
    j -> 1
    k -> 2
    l -> 3
    etc

    I think it likes laptop keyboard, but this is desktop not laptop.

    Solution?
    Here I have done:

    1. Turn off NumLock (LED becomes off). Yes, it will makes m, j, k, l, etc become normall again but Numerical keys on right side will not work .

    2. Restart PC.

    3. Unplug USB keyboard then plug again.

    4. Change keyboard to PS2 model.

    Last one is what I did right now. It seems solved, but still curious what's the real problem.

    Try this:

    I was experiencing the same problems and came across the solution that worked for my Lenovo Y550 laptop. Here it is:

    Typed letters appear as increasing numbers ( 0,1,2,3,4,5). When I type letters they appear as numbers which increase instead of letters.

    This issue could be caused by a software program called GuardedID. Follow the steps below to prevent the application from starting up or you may remove the application if you want to.

    To prevent GID application from Starting Up:

    Click Start
    Click Run
    Type "msconfig"
    Select "Startup" tab
    Unchecked GID desktop application
    Press OK then reboot laptop.
    or

    To uninstall GID Application from Windows

    Click Start
    Click Control Panel
    Click Add / Remove Programs
    Search for "GID" / "GID Desktop Application
    Select the item and select uninstall
    Reboot when uninstall is done.

    Hope this helps those coming to look for help!

    I have had this same problem with pgup and pgdn non-numeric keys typing numbers, character keys typing random characters, etc. on Win7x64. I came up with the following solution:

    Neither my keyboard nor my mouse are configured to wake the computer because of cats (Control Panel/all control panel items/device manager/keyboard (or mice..)/device/power management tab/deselect wake). When I sleep the computer, I first turn off the USB switch that I installed (USB 3.0 Hub Splitter by Bauihr on Amazon) controlling the power to the keyboard (have thumb drives on the remaining splitter ports) . I then press the computer power switch to sleep the computer (power switch must be configured to sleep: Control Panel/hardware and sound/power options/change what the power buttons do/when I press the power button/ select "sleep"). To wake the computer, I press the computer power switch first and then when the login screen appears I switch on the keyboard.
