CTD while playing STALKER, no DVD drives after?

I've been playing Stalker Clear Sky for a couple hours. I was about to change levels (going to "the garbage") and I got a crash to desktop. I clicked on submit for the error that popped up and had to close it from task manager (it wouldn't close).

I restarted my PC and now my DVD and DVD/RW drives are both missing from Windows. They do work by pressing the eject button.

The only "mod" I'm using is Clear Sky Complete.

Restarted once again (checked to see if the drives were showing in BIOS and they are). Now the drives show up in Windows. Weird.

Happened again. Lost my DVD drive, restarted, drives were there then the DVD was gone again. I'm guessing the drive might be bad.

Both drives (DVD and DVD/RW) were there last night. Went to use the computer this morning and the DVD drive is once again gone. Going to remove it later today and just use the DVD/RW.

Played Clear Sky for a couple hours today. It was in fact the DVD drive that went bad. Now I'm only using the DVD/RW. Now I need to buy another DVD/RW to have as a spare (just in case).
