Can't regain raid 1 configuration on HDD 2 & Hdd 3 after HDD 1 replace

I was forced to replace my OS HDD after a failure. My original configuration was my OS on HDD #1 and then two 1TB HDD set up in raid 1 configuration.

I purchased a Crucial 256gb M4 drive for my OS with the hopes of continuing to use my HDD #2 and HDD #3 as one drive in raid 1 for my data files. Upon reinstall Windows 7 booted right up but no longer were my two drives recognized as one drive. I went into the bios and changed my setting from ACHI to Raid and set the M4 as the first boot device. Upon restart no boot device was located and windows failed to start. I was able to <control-i> into my raid settings and the two 1TB are set up as raid 1 and the M4 is set as non raid drive.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why I am not able to regain my original settings?

The problem is you installed Windows 7 in AHCI mode when you reinstalled on the SSD. When you switch to
RAID, it needs to be told to use the RAID drivers.

Here's how:

Change the BIOS back to AHCI so that Windows 7 can boot.
I would temporarily disconnect the two 1 TB drives.
Then follow this article.

After the fix, reboot and now set the BIOS to RAID.

Thank you for the reply. After doing more reading I think it may be a better (easier) solution to migrate the data on the 1TB HDD to an external drive I have and then format both drives. I then can use 1 of the 2 1TB HDD's for my data and the other one for backup using a disk image program. Sound like a better solution?
