It's just that I've seen the term used to describe various things technical,
and assumed it to be part of the internet 'jargon'.

I simply used the term to indicate
"something technical", i.e. mathematics....

It's alright Chuck. The link I gave is kind of jumbled, I suppose I could of provided a more simplified link/answer. squonksc gave out a better layout so no harm done.

Even though the OP didn't even bother to respond back at all with all our answers given.

Thanks for the compliment Airbot,

I will take the relevant parts of my post, and make a thread called "HDD, Actual size vs Advertised size" and ask the mods to set it to solved.
