    Touchpad often doesn't work

    Hello everyone.

Recently, I did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my MSI GE600. At first, the touchpad behaved the way it should. But now, it is not even detected. I rebooted the laptop and it worked again. Most of the time it doesnŽt work though.

I have installed the Elantech driver of the MSI site, so IŽd like to know what you think the problem is and how to fix it.

Thank you so much in advance.

I have recently dealt with this same issue on an Asus laptop. The touchpad does not function correctly, but the issue is sporadic. A USB mouse works fine.

The first thing I needed to determine was if this was a hardware problem or a software problem (OS or Drivers).

So what I did was wait until the touchpad stopped working and then rebooted with a Linux Ubuntu USB stick connected. Booting into Ubuntu I found the touchpad still did not respond. This told me that the problem was hardware. The touchpad has to be replaced.

So that is what I would suggest. You need to know what kind of problem you are dealing with so you know in which direction to focus your efforts.

    Ubuntu for USB here:
    Download | Ubuntu
(You have the option to "Try It" or "Install". You just need to try it)
