FFS! - Seatools now requires .NET 4!
<grrr> - why do they have to complicate it? - it's not that complex a program, surely?

I'm not sure that cloning (imaging) a disk will copy bad sectors. Isn't it just raw data that is copied?
Thats my understanding - only the data is written to the image?

In Acronis True Image there is an option to do a "sector by sector" image backup, but you have to choose it.
I have never understood why that would be helpful or necessary.

    Well -that was a bust!
Seatools crashes on opening - even after installing and updating dotnet4 - with an accessviolationexception error

    What a POS!
Luckily I have an old verssion somewhere.... and that one require .NET2 !! Jeez

Don't keep trying to fix the drive. I have recently lost a drive to bad sectors (luckily it was on an old laptop that I don't use that much), so IMO, keep the owner's data backed up and wait for the drive to fail. It may go for another year or 2 or it may go for another day. I have an old Dell desktop with a hard drive with bad sectors and the drive works perfectly fine. Eventually (probably soon) the drive is gonna fail. I still keep using that drive, lol. You have tried repeatedly to repair the sectors which is what I did with that old laptop and the drive started locking up. I knew ythen that I needed to replace the drive.

Yeah - that's pretty much what I'd decided to do anyhow.
It's a clean install, so there's nothing to back up yet.
I'll just advise her to keep daily backups of whatever she does, and pray :)
