    damtyk,

WIN | type MSCONFIG | ENTER | STARTUP tab |
    Uncheck ALL except for:
    Script:
    ETDWare        %ProgramFiles%\Elantech\ETDCtrl.exe
    REBOOT!

You have just told Win 7 to not run unchecked programs at start up time.

You have not disabled the programs. They will be run when needed.

WIN = key with the Microsoft logo on top

Your computer will RUN! Believe me (and incidentally, much better)

You notice that your touchpad driver, is the one and the only startup program you need.

I recommend MSE, Microsoft Security Essentials.

This is the one and the only anti-malware solution that I recommend, that I use, that I install.
    Please see following:

Now, I don't have the netbook with me right now. My netbook uses Elantech, but there is a setting for you so that Elantech stays up and running but as soon as you connect your mouse (or if it's connected at startup) then the mouse is active and the touchpad is inactive.

Here's what I have when I choose mouse properties and go to the Synaptics tab.

    The Elantech screen is similar:

I never said to make any changes on that tab.

Now uninstalling AVAST does help and will speed up your system.

the black screen is normal on slow machines and on machines that do not have a validated win 7. Notice I didn't say anything about your version. Just making a comment.

After checkmarking the mouse setting, did you hit the OK button, did you perform a REBOOT!

If you still have Soluto installed, then UNINSTALL.

That program has a nasty habit of hanging around and slowing a computer down.

I no longer recommend Soluto and that is one of the reasons.
