8GB Ram only 3GB usable?

    8GB Ram only 3GB usable?


    Hello,I have 8GB of ram on my computer and I have 64bit windows 7 but my computer says "8 GB (3 GB usable)" why is this?

    u mean that windows detect 8 gb and 3 gb is usable

    go to
    start
    run
    type msconfig
    ok
    go to boot tap
    choose advanced option
    take photo
    and attach it to next post

    1) Are you using the 64 bit version of windows or the 32 bit version?

    2) How old is the motherboard you are using?

    Edit: Ooops, posts got crossed. Assuming the above doesn't fix it.

    Enable "Memory Remap" if it's listed in your BIOS.

    Yes, I have 64bit windows 7 I don't know how old the motherboard is because it's a laptop. I'm currently not on my computer so I can't do anything on it yet.
