Computer stuttering randomly. And high Latency on windows 7

I have this issue, too -- but mine happens certain times of the day. I think mine stems from the neighbor's WIFI router being closer to my computer than my own router is, and theirs overpowers my signal. I try to change the broadcasting channel, but it doesn't work. When I changed from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz in the router (as my WIFI card is dual bandwidth) the issue completely stopped and everything works fine.

I'm wondering if this happens more in an area with a lot of WIFI traffic. I do have a lot of neighbors streaming WIFI, and a limited number of channels, so maybe that would work for you?

I wish there was a better solution, because if I'm on my netbook, I can't get onto my wifi network when it's broadcasting 5GHz.

HI im new to the forum, signed up because i'd reached the end of my teather in trying to come up with a solution to the same problem everyone else seems to be suffering. First let me start by saying that this issue is actually seriously affecting my career at the moment, since im a DJ and using PC software Serato which utilises digitising audio in real time from my turntables. This latency issue is causing pops and clicks from my playing audio which despite the the obvious audio failings, also has the knockon affect of causing slowing through the skips which puts my tunes out of time with one another! I HAVE TO SOLVE THIS IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.

I have a Dell inspiron N5040 laptop, windows 7 home premium edition service pack 1. I have 4gb ramm & 400gb HD.
After running a DPC latency test i'm shown i have recurring kernel timer latency of over 16000. Obviously unacceptable.

I have tried disabling the CPU throttling by switching all power settings to high performance and min/max processor state to 100%. I have disabled my networking and wifi as this is not necessary for what i need for mixing. I have disabled ALL none essential processes in task manager. I have disabled all none essential hardwares in device manager webcam, pci family controller, wifi etc. After all this although latency is still there causing the same issues.

Please has anyone got anything else to suggest as a possible cause of this latency?

This problem also happend to me.
And it just came out i dont know like on it's own.
I did almost anything.
Updating my Realtek with HD Audio worked.Now everytime i get the sound crackle and dropouts i just update it with HD RealTek audio.
What you should do more :
Always keep your PC updated.That means to check your Win Upadter always!
Download TuneUp Utilities and tweak ur PC.
Also clean ur PC,dust can chocke CPU from working normaly.(My problem was over usage of CPU,when scrolling,opening new windows etc).This is maybe funny to you but it will help.
BIOS isn't the problem in most cases.DONT ATEMPT to upade your BIOS if your doing it first time,u can fry your motherboard.
This problem as i see from all my internet browsing is because the Win 7 64 bit.
I hope this will work for you guys,best solution is to reinstall the system if the problem persists,clean entire HDD and ur PC from dust.If everything fails just buy a new PC or contact your PC seller,or install other OS.

ok so good news at least for me, I really hope it helps out others but i fear my ignorance will not have been continued by all of you.

After uninstalling all bloatware, updating all drivers and BIOS. Disabling all non-essential hardware and software from processess to start-ups to side bars etc etc. Changing all settings to maximum performance including power settings i suddenly realised that the issue only seemed to occur when i was running the laptop off the mains ie off the charger!!! THEN IT HIT ME! I was using a old charger from a previous laptop also a dell but not the same one, but i noted that it was when ever i was using this charger that the problem occured. When using the proper laptop charger the problem siezed! Hope some of you out there have been equally stupid, if not then not sure what else to suggest

And further more i dont think the problem to this is in any PC configuration.Its all to the OS Win 7 64 bits.
But this kinda problems should remind you too keep your PC clean,as in softver and the physical components of a computer.

Alright mates heres the deal with this problem.
The most frequently problem that is causing the sound to drop out and high latencies on your computer mostly come from your graphic card drivers (this problem occurs at my computer).
Now i dont know is this because the nVidia cards,because i'm using GForce GT 9600.
I found out that if i disable the the drivers in my device manager my latency drops to green.So for my case the problem is definitely the graphic card drivers.I dont think there is a hardware problem with my graphic card,even tho my computer specs are almost 5 years old .

Processor :Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7200 @ 2.53GHz
RAM memory : 4,00 GB
Graphics : GForce 9600 GT 1 GB

I dont think my computer specs are either the problem since people with 5 times better spec have same or even worse problems than me.
I did everything,everything is up to date : Graphic,Chipset,BIOS,Audio,Utilities.
So i dont know if there will be any good possible solution to this,either for Nvidia to release some hot fix for this.I will continue to search the web for the solution,possibly maybe to downgrade my drivers and see how it works.

But a man that finds the solution for this problem either should get a medal or money for it,since the people who are charged to fix these kinda problems don't do their work.
And i am srsly thinking of taking a big dump on Nvidia and her products.


P.S this problem at me comes and goes.Sometimes i get this problem and sometimes it works just fine. . .and that makes me even more confused.
