    Network Attached Storage unit recommendations

I have only about 100GB left on my mirrored RAID on my desktop and I am looking for a NAS. I have been looking at this Synology one and this Buffalo one. I like the Buffalo one because it comes with 12TB and depending on the drives may be cheaper. What are people's experiences with either of these? Are there other one's that people like better?

I don't know anything about NAS units, but stay away from WDC Red drives. They are having some very bad problems with them.

Synology comes with a better reputation from what I understand......steer clear of Thecus if you can, my experiences with that have been terrible.

These were actually drives that I was looking at. I'll have to go look for more reviews of them.

It is, I figure that I will buy something bigger now than have to spend again on another in the future. I'm in the process of ripping my DVDs and BluRays and have probably only done ~5% of them.

Haven't thought about building one, but wouldn't rule it out. I do have an old XP disc that is unused and have Windows Server from my MSDNAA account.

I've only heard good things about Synology, but some people that I work with told me to check out Buffalo. they haven't had any any personal experience with Buffalo, just have heard a few good things about them.
