Swap out Motherboard,, Need to reformat?

    True but then i also would need a new processor, ram and a heat sink because my system has an AM2 socket with DDR2 ram

    No you can not run them in SLI. Even if you could a current gen mid-range card would be faster than the two of them together.

    You can use the same processor just not the ram

    AM3 or AM3+ would let you use AM2 Chipset there would be a list of CPU qualifacations that would work on that board if you are going that route
