hoping to find someone familiar with IOGear

I have used a 4 oirt KV Switch to run four computers from one mouse, keyboard and monitor. Since about every thing is going to USB and getting away from PS2 for keyboards and mice I located a device made by IOGear that does the same thing but using USB instead of PS2.

My question: I use a Logitech trackman wheel mouse for years that is wired/USB, using a converter to convert the mouse to PS2 Now I need to replace the logitec mouse, only a wireless one is made. Since a small USB receiver is supplied with it it wont work because the USB/PS2 converter does not supply power it will not work with my current KV SW. Will the IOGear system that uses USB will that provide power for the USB/WIRELESS mouse accessory?? Have not been able to get a response from IOGear.

IOGear's website usually lists the features for each and used to mention wireless mice. I used to have a GCS932U that worked with wireless mice, but that's only a 2-port KVM. I also ended up going back to a wired mouse, though.

Thanks for your reply, I think you have answered my question. I have used the Logitech Trackman Wheel for at least 10 years and have gotten so accustomed to being able to mouse around using the thumb to move the mouse around, trying to use a mouse requiring moving the is not easy for what I do in imagin work. I also prefer the wired mice not wireless. Since Logiteck does not make a wired trackman wheel anymore only in wireless I finaly decided to see if it would work. Another problem I have also used a KV 4 port device that lets me use one mouse, keyboard and monitor on four computers. That setup uses PS2 for the mouse connections, since the wired trackman was USBA I had to use a converter to PS2 which has worked well for years. So, when I tried the wireless trackman it required the use of a very small USB receiver, the four port KV switch does not provide dc power to the PS2 connection nor does the USB to PS2 adapter. It worked fine plugging it into the computer directly.

I found a USB four port device to run the four computers but did not know for sure if that device would supply the dc power to run the little USB reciver for the wireless mouse, I also found an email address for their tech uppport, sent them a message the reply stated they did know anything about the little USB receiver so would not give me an answer. Your answer sort of looked like it would work but not sure if you were gong through a USB to PS2 converter.

Yes that is what I said in my first reply, I just got off the IOGear web site who has a four port KVM switch for running 4 computers. From past experience I want to make sure that thier USB input ports will provide dc power to run the USB connected keyboard and mouse. Since I tried this with my current unit which uses PS2 to connect the mouse through a USB TO ps2 adapter did not provide the dc to run the remote reciever for the wirless mouse. Don't want to spend dollars for something that wont work, that is why I place a question on sevenforums to see if anyone had experience with IOGear using a wireless mouse.

When I was using the wireless mouse, it was with a USB receiver. The USB ports are basically just a USB hub and nothing more. The only real difference is that they maintain some connection to each PC so each computer thinks the keyboard is still present. When you switch to and from, you hear the USB connection sounds. It should work just fine.

IOGear is probably the most well known maker of consumer level KVMs.

Every thing you say I understand, however since I was using a KVM that uses PS2 connections not USB connections. Wireless mouse, Keyboards and others which are sireless which means they are not connected directly with anything, they send a signal wirelessly to a receiver which is plugged into a USB port, since I did not use USB port I had to use a PS2 port on my older 4 port KVM sw. which does not supply dc power to the little receiver needed to pick up the information from the wireless mouse, this little receiver requires a dc source to operated, none is available in the PS2 or the USB to PS2 converter SOOO, I cannot use a wireless mouse like the Logiteck trackman wheel mouse. If I just connected the USB mouse receiver to the compouter directly or through a UB hub it worked just fine since the computer of the hub supplies the necessaryt dc to run the little receiver.

Now comes the reason why I asked the question, does the NEW IOGEAR I want to by provide dc at the USB PORTS so the little USB mouse receiver will work. I finaly got a reply from the IOGear Co. that there 4 PORT usb DEVICE that will run four computers from one monitor, one mouse, and one keyboard

Since my question has been answered, this will end this dialugue. Thank you all, will be back when another problem comes up that I cannot resolve.
