You are wasting your time messing about with drvers. If the HD is not connecting to the PC it wont connect with the drivers so it makes no difference how many you have installed. In fact i have the self same WD 1TB HD and that doesn't need a driver. It works perfectly with what Win 7 gives it automatically. You say you are waiting for a reply but you fail to answer the simple questions you have been continuously asked. Go back over the thread and answer the outstanding questions and help will come. I'l ask you one more time "Have you tried a new USB lead/cable"? Plaese don't reply that you know there is nothing wrong with the lead/cable!!!!!

ditto on the cable. I've had a dud cables on a new My Book essentials. It was fine on USB 2 but not USB 3. A different cable fixed the problem.
Also check out WDs Knowledge base eg.,-why-is-it-needed,-and-how-to-get-the-driver-popup-to

I steer away from as much WD software as possible, firmware excluded of course.
