    USB Flash Drive problems

I got nasty problem with USB Flash Drives (mass storage). The stick works perfectly with other computers. Also all my other USB devices works in win7, including mouse, keyboard, usb wlan (some issues though, but works now) etc.

When I plug the usb flash drive, it recognizes it (Kingston Data Traveller 2.0) and I can even read data from it, even very fast. But the problem start when I try to put some new stuff in it. Ex. I want to copy a big video clip to it, when I drop something to it, it starts to do some "calculations" for few seconds, then it popup message showing the the file is already there and aks questions should it be replaced. When I answer "replace", it gives me copy error "0x80070570".

I just got new 500W Nexus power supply, some I'm a bit doubtful if there is any power issues.

    My MB: ASRock > Products > M3A770DE

I'm very open to suggestions. :)

    Is this an option?

Format the USB drive. Use NTFS.

I have the same problem - Win7 Ultimate RTM 32-bit.

Copying large files to an NTFS formatted Kingston USB drive fails consistently under the Windows Explorer.

Copying from the command prompt seems to work fine.

Was wondering if it was just my system or not.

For me it does the samething is prompt. The only way I got the usb flash drive working, is to set USB 2.0 to disabled (from BIOS), but that's not an option for me. And also, my smaller 1GB Flash Drive works beautifully. Win7 definately has some problem with large usb flash drives. Or, AMD's USB Filter doesn't work very well (chipset driver).

I just happen to have a Kingston Data Traveller. Will check large files. No trouble copying MP3s 5MB-12MB each.

I use 4GB and 8GB USB thumbs on a regular basis. FIle sizes from small txt files to 3.xxGB ISOs.

Do you have the latest chipset and other drivers?

How many different USB ports have you tried it in ? Are you using a USB hub of any kind ?

My Kingston Data Travellers refuse to work correctly when connected to a HUB with no external power supply. Working perfectly when connected directly to computer's USB ports, or to a Belkin USB 2 HUB with external power supply. Was like that with Vista, too.

    Hi,

I have tried all the usb ports, and it works the same way with all of them. I even removed and uninstalled all the usb root hubs and rebooted to reinstall all of them, no change. I think the problem could be chipset drivers, even though I have updated them by downloading the newest one from AMD.

I checked this forum, and seems that some other people also are having problems with usb devices.

Atleast I now know that problem is with USB 2.0.

Looks like there are many users with similar problem...

I also have the same problem in copying large files from internal HDD to external USB devices (flash disk and portable HDD). The copy process start and then halt after a while, then a restart is needed.

My 2 other computers, Dell 600m and Asus EeePC 1000HE (both are using Win7 Prof 32), do not have this problem.

My affected computer is Acer M5641 (Q6600, nForce, Win7 Ultimate x64) and already installed latest nvidia nforce chipset 15.37 and 15.46.
