Trouble making disk1(HDD) show up under hard drives

    Trouble making disk1(HDD) show up under hard drives


    Hi guys! Im haven't used windows since XP was out so im a noob with windows 7. I just built my computer and have windows booted up on my SSD. I want to use my HDD for games, files, etc, however I cant seem to use it.

    I go to disk management

    Here I right click

    When I click on change drive letter and path, this pops up

    When I clock on format this comes up

    Currently the HDD is empty and has not been used. Thanks guys I really appreciate the help!

    Disk 1 is totally empty? If so, do in elevated command prompt

    Code:
    diskpart
    list disks (is it really disk1????)
    sel disk 1
    clean
    exit
    Reboot and try again

    If Kaktussoft's solution doesn't work, you might want to check out this free software for managing partitions:

    EaseUS Partition Master 9.1.1 Home Edition

    I've typically had more luck with that than using Windows' built-in tools.
