At your budget, you are going to have to make some sacrifices.

    My suggestions, all from ebuyer:

XFX 450W Core Edition Pro PSU | Ebuyer.com
XFX Core Edition power supply, 450 watt; 37.29; this is not a sacrifice.

    Antec 300 Three Hundred Case | Ebuyer.com
    antec 300 case; 39.99; well-regarded basic case

    Samsung SH-118AB 18x DVD ROM Drive - Black | Ebuyer.com
cheapest basic DVD drive, Samsung; 10.98

RAM; probably just 4 GB of standard DDR3 (2 sticks of 2 GB) from Crucial or Corsair or G Skill. I see Crucial for 10 pounds for 2 GB; so figure 20 pounds for 4.

Those parts total 108.26 plus shipping. Remaining budget: 211.74

You still need: CPU, motherboard, video card, sound card if not on motherboard, thermal paste if necessary, maybe wireless card.

I'd go with an i3, but your budget may not permit it. I know NOTHING about AMD.

I'd go with stock cooler. I'd go with 4 GB RAM now and don't add more unless you know you need it.

I gather you like to play games, and I know little about gaming cards, so will not go any farther.

I'd find the cheapest video card that will play your games at desired settings.

Get everything decided EXCEPT motherboard, CPU, RAM. Find out how much money is left in the pot at that time. Then make the AMD versus Intel decision.

I'd probably go with a micro ATX motherboard.

If you decide on Intel after you have rejected AMD, let me know how much money is left and for which parts and I will try to help you on motherboard and CPU.

Amazon is reliable and do frequent business with them without any trouble. The problem is with Amazon's Marketplace vendors. Those have been problematic since Amazon apprently does a poor job of vetting them. I avoid them like the plague unless they have sterling vendor reviews (which the vast majority do not). If you have a problem with one of the Marketplace vendors, you are pretty much on your own since Amazon won't stand behind them unless you light a fire under them (such as a complaint to the BBB).
