Thanks WHS. Do you happen to know if the freebie will allow writes to USB memory sticks? I downloaded the plus trial but it won't write to USB sticks so I can't really test it properly. Thanks for the offer of the download. I'll wait and see if HD Tune get back to me and clarify if it's my USB or the software that won't do the write test. Now, it's off to the land of nod as it's 23.10 here and I'm up in 6hrs. Catch you guys tomorrow and thanks again.

I have probably an older version, 2.55 and it will do a USB drive.

Not real fast though. USB 2.0

    Hi Essenbe
Thanks for that. I thought that HD Tune would have replied by now but they haven't. That means it will be next week before I get a reply, unless they work Sat mornings. I guess I'll find out today for sure. I'll hold off for now if that's ok and see if they get back to me.

    Hi Essenbe.
The free one doesn't allow write to USB and the Pro trial won't allow it either. I need the read and write to be able to check the speeds properly. WHS said his will do it. I just think it's a bit rude, asking you guys to upload and then let me borrow your software, when the makers can't be bothered to reply to an email asking a simple question. Also, without forgetting the plot, it won't actually help make the card and usb 3 ports work. It will only confirm what we suspect. The card needs an updated driver. I still like the look of it though and should HDTune ever reply, I might still buy it. That's me done with this now until tomorrow or possibly Monday. Depends how my headache goes! Cheers for now guys and thanks again for the help and advice.

This is a download for version 2.55 which will run USB drives. You have to select it from the dropdown at the top.

It definitely runs USB sticks. Here is an example of a Kingston Data Traveller - and I have a half a dozen more, even USB3 sticks:

It is not a question of the CPU, it is a function of the mobo. But a mobo for a 3200+ is way too old to provide a USB3 port. But with a PCI-e card, you might be able to add it.
