I know the Intel X25M and the OCZ Vertex Turbo support native Trim. There are a couple of others too, but I do not remember. I am an OCZ fan and the above Intel just came out as a good alternative. To match the Trim in the SSD you should use Windows7 that has native Trim support too - plus it does some other tweaks automatically that you otherwise have to apply yourself.

Well, it's not going to take a RAID array or even an SSD drive to seriously outperform a 4200RPM laptop drive. Any modern standard 7,200 RPM hard drive will demolish the performance of a 4,200RPM drive.

Did you know that an SSD has a short span of time as compared to a HDD.

Well, the question is whether it actually matters. Most of what I have read indicates a 10+ year lifespan on SSD drives. And I don't have any hard drives which are older than 10 years old running on any of my equipment these days.

True.

I do. System built in 2001 with old parts. I am amazed. The machine runs 24/7 also, but is only "keyboarded" every month or so- unless there is a power failure. The machine answers my phones and other than whatever Windows does, it keeps a single log file.

There is a school of thought that running a drive 24/7 can actually extend it's life. I do admit, that the machine itself has been turned off a few times for a few months each.
