Looking at the specs for the board and pc I would say No - there are two SATA ports on the board - the HDD and the DVD drive are both SATA so would not leave any ports free

    Hi paul,

You could of course replace the SATA DVD drive with an IDE drive quite cheaply and there should , from the spec, be a free IDE port to run this from on the motherboard.

However if the reason for your question is to add a extra SATA HDD or other device I would suggest you look at the PCI SATA cards that you can fit into your PC to provide the ports you require.

a quick google or visit to your prefered supplier should provide a number of options at reasonable prices. most of these cards will have the advantage of an external e-SATA port for use with backup drives, in addition to a number of standard SATA ports

Hi Paulpp, I would assume that adding the PCI SATA Port to your computer, would mean you plug anything else that you wanted to add (new harddrive, DVD drive, etc) into that PCI Card, so no you would not have to fiddle with the current SATA wire setup.

    I could be wrong.

If you added an additional card it should be capable of sensing the existing ports so that the only requirement from yourself would be to install the card, connect the new drive to the card, and a free power cable, and switch on.

At worst you may have to set some switches or links on the card to set the port numbers

Full instructions should be available with the card or on the manufacturers website

You have 2 sata ports, what do you have connected to them now?
They are the black and white ports on the stern, starboard side of the mobo.
Sometimes HP will have an extra stata port but will not put it in the spec sheet.
