    Thrmal for a Toshiba laptop

I am planning to re-thermal my Toshiba laptops and they recommend the Shin Etsu paste but am wondering if anyone knows if this brand is as good or better as any of the "usual" brands. Plus it is not easy to find where to get it from.

I like Arctic Silver, Noctua NT-H1, Antec nano diamond formula 7 and the Arctic Alumina for my deskies but changing the thermal in the laptop takes a fair bit of work and fiddling so I want to get it right first go if possible.

So anyone got experience wit Laptop pastes please?

There really is no best thermal paste. You can ask which ONE is the best but you'll probably get ONE HUNDRED different answers. I like Artic Silver 5 and IC diamond but people also say good things about MX4 MX-3 and lots of other thermal paste. Look at this thermal paste round up where each thermal compound is tested and temps benchmarked, then decide.

Yep Ali you're right it does tend to provoke a firestorm of opinions and usually I would use what you use but wasn't real sure with laptops cos of the enclosed nature of the beast and Toshiba's preference. I might go with AS5 or maybe that Noctua NT-H1 as it is quite a bit thicker at room temps.

I'll just keep half an eye on the temps for the first few uses in any case (nice pun?? LOL!!)

Thanks for the ref too mate :)
