USB 3.0 Host Controller not found. Update: missing driver

    Today I got a WD usb 3.0 PCI-e card. WDBFJ0000NNC

I installed the software on the CD it came with. Then I put the card into a free PCI-e slot. When I restarted the computer, windows gives a message that the device driver was not successfully installed. Specifically the "NEC Electronic USB 3.0 Host Controller". Any external hard drives (All WD drives) I plug it is not registered by windows.

In device manager the "NEC Electronic USB 3.0 Host Controller" has a caution (exclamation)on it.
If I look at the card, it lights up so power isn't a problem.

Does anyone know how to get the card to work?

I don't know much technical language so any simple instructions would be appreciated.

OS: windows 7 home premium 64 bit
    motherboard: Intel H67 Revision B3
    CPU: I5-2310

    Hi,

You should have plugged it in first, and then installed the software.

Uninstall the software, reboot, and then try and install it again. Leave the device in the PCI-e slot.

The instructions said to install the software first. I also tried removing the software and card, put the card first then the software but I still have the same problem.

I reboot the computer after each step.

    Update

It appears that the driver included only support x86 systems.

Can anyone help me find a compatible driver for my motherboard? I guess it is on NEC website but I have no idea how to find the right one.

    thanks

    Hi,

This is what I find on the Dell site for the XPS8300:
Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

What driver is currently in use?

I am not sure how to find what driver I am using. But I uninstalled the WD software and installed the dell one. Still no luck as in device manager I still get the caution symbol for "NEC electronics usb 3.0 host controller"

If I look at the program > uninstall program the previous WD revision for "NEC electronics usb 3.0 host controller driver" was 1.0.18.0. The dell on is 1.0.17.0

What options area available when you right-click on the device in Device Manager?

Under device manager if I right click "NEC electronics usb 3.0 host controller" that is under USB controllers, the options I get are: update driver software, disable, uninstall, scan for hardware changes, and properties.

If I right click "properties", under "device status" it states that "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

If you choose Update Driver Software, what does it report back?

If I select to automatically search for driver or browse my computer (dell drivers) it says the "best driver software for your device is already installed."
