There should be some software that came with it where you can perform a "Secure Erase". I'm not familiar with Crucial's method, but I'm guessing you have to run the software from another drive as you can't Secure Erase from the SSD you are wanting to erase. Install the software on a drive you can boot to, run the program, select the M4 and Secure Erase it by following the on-screen instructions. Copy them down if you want. It usually requires power cycling the SSD at some point, which is simply unplugging the SATA power cable for a few seconds, then plugging it back up. Keep that in mind, because it may be a good idea to de-mount your SSD and position it in a more easy/safe to reach location so you aren't diggin around in the guts of your machine with the power on. Let us know if you have anymore questions before you dive into this, as I'd rather answer them now instead of when you are in the middle of working on it lol.

Maybe some M4 users will chime in later today and tell you how to erase it. Like I said, I've never used an M4, so I'm not familiar with the procedure. Don't give up just yet!

Why is it so essential to secure erase the drive? Just format it. Eventually wear balancing will overwrite every cell in the SSD.

You can secure erase it by making a bootable partd CD. I have done this but it takes some trickery but I don't see any point of doing this in the first place.
