Windows 7: New Comp won't boot up!!!

New Comp won't boot up!!!

Hey everyone

Built my first computer this summer. It was working good. Then problems started happening.

First: The computer would freeze every time I would play any games or videos off the internet.

Second: Now, I can't even get the thing to boot up. I press the power button. The fans and lights turn on in the case but with in a few seconds it restarts its self. It will continue this cycle until I hit the switch on the power supply. Thats the only way to make it stop.

Here is my system hardware
Case: Cooler Master HAF-X
Mother Board : Msi X79A-GD65 (8D)
CPU: Intel i7 3820
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT CMT16GX3M4X2133C9
GPU: Two XFX FX-797A-TDBC Radeon HD 7970 Black Edition
Power Supply: Ultra 1200w
Hard Drive: Patriot PP240GS25SSDR Pyro 240GB
Hard Drive: Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 1TB
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100

Its all new gear. Built it to get back into computer gaming (aka Diablo 3). Sucks having to play D3 on my older Asus laptop on ultra low settings.

Hope someone has some ideas for me. I have not considered getting a different motherboard. I have read about others having issues with the MSI board. Wanted to get some experienced help first before sending $500 on a new board.

Welcome to Seven Forums.
MSI has a really bad reputation for reliability and lack of customer support.
-But you can try checking ALL PSU connections and the CPU socket for bent pins.

I guess that's what I get for buying the cheapest X79 mother board.

I will try your suggestions and update my post with the results.

Thanks for the Post.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

Along with what Gary has said, also seeing as you have 2x GPU's I would remove one, see if the PC boots with one in, if it doesn't I would remove that and try the other card on its own to rule out a faulty GPU, it could also just be that one of them is not quite seated correctly.

And while your in there, it won't hurt to reseat the ram too if your still not getting anywhere.
