Disk letter problem

I have a big problem with a disk letter on my external hdd .Recently I've added a new internal hard disk and all my partition letters changed.No problem until i noticed that i really need the partition F for my external drive.No problem , so i go : right click on my computer -> Manage -> disk management and change letter and so .. until i noticed that the letter F is already taken by one Cd Drive.Here is the problem.I don't know how to change the letter for the CD Drive.I must say that in disk management the CD driver doesn't show (probably because i don't have a DVD or CD drive). How can i change the letter for the CD drive ? AGAIN : IN THE DISK MANAGEMENT IS NO WAY TO CHANGE IT.

I would give this utility a try:
DriveLetterView - View/Change/Remove drive letters assignment in your system

I use many utilities from that publisher and I've never run into a problem caused by his software.

I see you have HD marked A: and B: which is pretty unusual. Usually they are reserved for floppy drives. But anyway, try Sofer's software above. If it can't do it then there's probably no easy way. Usually in Disk Manager if I want to get to a drive letter it doesn't want me to have I first have to move other letters out of the way.. like back towards the end of the alphabet to free them up. But the NirSoft program is probably and easier and safer way to do it.

I think the problem here is the OP has a bunch of stuff hard-wired to use F:. I assume if he can't get this new drive to be F: then he has to rewrite a whole bunch of spaghetti. :)

I would try the NirSoft program I mentioned before anything else. All Nir Sofer's stuff is very good.

volume drive letter is in registry! It isn't retained when you move it to another computer
