It looks as though CD drives F & G are virutal drives. Drive H is the physical drive.

What software do you use to read ISO files?

even virtual cd drives are listed in disk management. At least daemon tools.

But though I think you're right.

Try this Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

    Still fake drives?

On top of the issue you have trying to assign F, your Disk Management is a mess. How did you end up with A, B drives

Why are 5 partitions marked active?

How did your machine get in this state?

edit: sorry, just read my comments and my questioning seemed a bit harsh. I'm not trying to belittle or acuse you, I aked the questions so I might better understand your system. If I understand how you use your system and why, I won't offer suggestions that won't work in your environment.

Yeah, but DT drives are usually labeled BDrom... So I'm guessing some other app was used/is being used. If it left ghosts....

I'll take a look at the tut you referenced and learn more.
edit: I should have read the title closer before I posted =;> thanks

Please run Speccy - when it finishes refreshing, go to the speccy file menu and Publish the report.

Speccy wil give you a URL that you can post here. That way I can see what might own the F & G drives.

    Thanks,

Easiest way to get it to retain the drive letter even if moved from 1 PC to the next is:
    1) Select a drive letter not being used on either PC...take into account card readers which may take up as many as 5 drive letters...
    2) Give the external HDD a Volume Label in Disk Management...this can be any name.
volume drive letter is in registry! It isn't retained when you move it to another computer
Still, there's something in what he says. I use docking stations and tend to label drives by size such as WD750GB. When I pull one out of the dock and put another in with the same label, usually even after boot I'll get the same drive letter assignment. Unless some other change was made.

I think it's superfluous to go on here unless the OP reports something back. Some people get a fix and they don't even bother to log in to let anyone know.

do you have power iso or similar installed, this will be giving you the cd drive and letter, uninstall power iso
temporarily and give your drive the F letter then reinstall power iso.
i had to do this recently, disabling any virtual drives in power iso didnt remove the cd drive hence the uninstall.
hope this is the solve for you. good luck.

edit, i notice that virtual drives have been mentioned, i should have read the thread all the way through.

I don't see where is the problem having thouse letters for the driver.I have 5 partition marked as active because i have a total of 4 hard disk's (i think one partition is active because of my fault , i accidently seted active). What state ? I don't have any problem with my system. This is the first time i have this kind of problem.

Have you restarted your system since uninstalling those apps? If not, please boot now and see if Drives F & G are present. If they are, we'll have to force them off the list.

Don't worry about "one part active because of my fault" it happens. Drive letters A & B are normally reserved for floppy drives. You say that you don't have any problem with your system, but you might in the future - Windows boot order depends on certain things, such as floppy, internal drives, USB attached devices, etc.

I think it would be best to straighten all of this out to prevent future problems, but that's your call.

Let me know what you see after a boot - thanks.
