How can I disable the touchpad on my laptop

    Hi
I have an ASUS laptop model: N43S
I used fn-f9 keys to disable my touchpad, and after I pressed these two keys, a picture of a locked touchpad appeared on the screen but the touchpad was still working.
So I went to control panel -->device manager-->mice and other pointing devices-->driver but the “disable” button was disable too.

I should disable my touchpad because I have to type my thesis and the touchpad is a big problem for me. Please help me in this case.

Hello rsaboor and welcome to Seven Forums.

This article explains the most common ways to disable a touchpad. Make sure you have another pointing device available (like an external keyboard) before disabling the touchpad.

rsaboor: welcome to the windows 7 forum.

Several of my laptops have a bios option to disable the touchpad.
Have you looked at the bios settings which can be accessed at boot time with one of the function keys, sometimes
the del key and sometimes the f2 or f19 keys.

Go to the Asus downloads page at http://www.service.asus.com/#!downloads/c1wax and download the manual for your laptop. You will find instructions under the heading:
    Chapter 4: Automatic Touchpad Disabling.

I have copied the instructions for the N43SN Windows 7 64-bit laptop, on page 55 of the manual.

It may work the same on your model…
    1) Select option in Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse.
    2) Click the ELAN tab.
    3) Click Disable when USB mouse is plugged in.
    4) Click OK to finish the configuration.

Hello marsmimar and thanks for the help. I read the article but none of the ways was useful. (I tried all the ways explained in this article and the lonely way that I didn't used was installing the touchfreeze). I decreased the sensitivity of the touchpad but after that, the sensitivity wasn't decreased yet. I think there is no permission for touchpad controlling.
