A lot does depend on the actual hardware in the systems used for testing. It is perfectly possible for two CPUs, one Intel and the other AMD, to yield identical results when they are installed on particular motherboards. Changing the motherboards, but using the same physical CPUs, can yield different results, with AMD coming out top with some motherboard combinations and Intel with others. In addition, some routines are written to work better with AMD processors and others with Intel units. It doesn't make too much difference, but for certain tests this can skew the results one way or the other.
