And stay away from Pentium processors. That is an old technology. An i3, i5 or i7 would do very well for your type applications. A midrange graphics card is also good - no on-board graphics if possible. And 4GB of RAM would suffice for your applications.

As far as disk space is concerned I would be looking for 500GB minimum. But you can always supplement with an external disk. For the OS, I would later add a SSD. That will make the system a lot faster and will cost an extra $60 to $100.

LADYPINKtomato1 you will be missing out on all the fun of doing all the research and ordering everything separately. Opening each and every box and fondling the new parts before installation. The joy of reading through the manuals and putting things together wondering if it will work when you are done. Installing the operating system of your choice and the correct drivers to go along with it. Don't deprive yourself of the joy. Build your own computer.

It has more in common with a laptop than a desktop PC. Its hardware configuration is essentially fixed, with limited possibilities for upgrades. I'd suggest a carefully chosen laptop instead; it'd be portable.

This is an enthusiast site, so a lot of people here prefer to assemble their own desktop systems. That's what I do; I haven't bought an appliance PC since 1995 (leaving off a laptop I bought in 2008, for use while I was laid up with a broken ankle).

If you're looking for a prebuilt system, and you're prepared to lay down a fair bit of cash, you might consider Apple products. I know that some of the IT people at my employer use Macs at home. I guess they feel that Macs require less maintenance.

Windows 8 - 64-bit
same title GHz info.

I've returned, back here to my questions, about GHz.... saw a PC I like, it's still available, I was on their website today,I think it has no moniter with it, not a problem , I have a new one I can use , just purchased it for the old Windows XP, seems the video card is dead, better to get a new desktop.:)
Just for your info. There's no way I would ever chose to think about a build for myself, I'm totally happy to get a PC already to use when I unpack it from the shipping pkg.
I love you guys for your help, just not into this build stuff.
