processors , and how many do i have ?

now pentume is no more i think ...

    core2duo may be runnig

the i series is also running ...

    what is the meaning of i3 , i5 and i7 ? just numbers ? odd numbers ?

or they mean something ? leave that the higher the number the better the processor ,, but why exactly 3 , 5 and 7 ?

also there is somthing like second generation and 3rd generations

    are they sub divisions of i 3 , 5 and 7 ? like i3 is about three generations ?

is it true that in i family , we have multiple processors at the same time ?

finally , from my device manager ... why 4 lines are under processor head cutter ?

the i3, i5 and i7 are just a way to identify how many cores and howm powerful the processor is

    i3 has 2 cores

    i5 has 4 cores

    i7 has 6 cores

basicly take 1 away from the number. core 2 quads have 4 cores
    core 2 duos have 2

the i3 i5 and i7 are the name but the model depends on the 4 numbers after it

    for example i3 2120 and i7 2600k are 2nd generation

    i7 3770 and i5 3570 are 3rd generation and any i5 i3 and i7 which have only 3 numbers is first generation

what you see in the images is a fault in windows it shouldnt say processors but cores as it states how many cores your cpu has, if a cpu is marked "q or m" it means it is a laptop or mobile cpu if it has a k it means it is highly overclockable

Intel processors are arranged into families and then each family is sub-divided. For example, my processor, i5-3570K, is in the 5th family and 3rd generation. See Learn About Intel® Processor Numbers

As regards the entries in Device Manager, you will have an entry per core (2 cores = 2 entries, 4 cores = 4 entries, etc).

    Not quite.

I7 desktop CPUs have 4 or 6 cores. The Socket 1155 I7 chips are all quad core. For Socket 2011, the 3820 has 4 cores. All of the others, 6 cores.

All of the I7 desktop CPUs include hyperthreading, so Windows shows twice the number of cores as there are physical cores. (Unless hyperthreading support is turned off in the BIOS.)

The I5 chips do not have hyperthreading.

I think that all of the desktop I3 chips are dual core, with hyperthreading.

The k suffix indicates that the CPU multiplier is unlocked. (The CPU frequency is the bus frequency time the multiplier.) k CPUs are easy to overclock. The X suffix (for Extreme) is similar, with a larger hit on your wallet.

In the laptop (mobile) world, things are entirely different. I think there may be mobile I7s with 2 cores. Marketing is a wonderful thing, no?

windows 7 names each core a processor, which it is, but in your case 4 cores in one processor, but windows redas it as 4 processors
