    Can't transfer files to USB

I can't transfer any files that are bigger than 1mb to any of my flash drives. I've tried many different sizes and types of files using different USBs and different ports and even formatted the USBs. I can transfer files in between my two internal HDDs without any problems. Also it seems if the file system is FAT32 it transfers files normally. When the file system is NTFS it has a speed of 600-1000 MB/s which shouldn't be possible since they are usb 2 flash drives. I wouldn't really mind but i need to transfer 4+ gb files.

Please explain clearly what happens when you try to copy a file larger than 1 mb. Do you get any error message? If so what is it?

Also post a screenshot of the pendrive in Disk Management.

At this point, I would suggest you check your system and pen drives thoroughly for any virus/malware infection. Doesn't hurt in anyway, na?:)

Hum thee scan did occur to me too jumanji I was just wondering re the drivers, as OP had to reformat stuff?

I reckon either Malwarebytes and / or SuperAntiSpyware would worth a try eh??

Red if you want to try these

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

    Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

I don't think a clean up would go amiss either

CCleaner - Download < from piriform - all three are free and take very little time to do what they do mate:)

Hmm... well check device manager and I did a scan with and noting was wrong. I'm going to do a clean up with ccleaner next. When I tried to get an image of the the transfer of my flash drive, the speed started at 91 MB/s but then it dropped down to 5-10 MB/s so thats normal. I think its slower than before but not sure. When I transfered a 4 gb file, it to about 20-25 mins and when it said 5 secs remain, it took 4 mins for it to finish and close the transfer window. Also it causes my web browser to stop responding when transferring a file sometimes.

Heres what happens when I transfer a file larger than 1mb. If the file is like 1mb - 2 gb it will say 5 or 10 secs left and will stay on that status still it stops responding. When its like 4gb, 1/4 of the transfer bar is green and says 30 secs till finished and will be that till stops responding.

hmmm............ I just had a glance at your system specs. Gateway, nvidia stripe, Geforce and most probably nvidia chipset too.

I would suggest that you contact Gateway support to find whether this is a known issue.

Assuming that all your pendrives are genuine, branded ones and that these perform without any problem on other PCs, on your own I would suggest that you check to see whether there is any updated chipset drivers for your machine and update it. An update may resolve the problem.

they're all genuine. One is from Fry's electronics and the other one is from Amazon from san disk. I'll see if I have any other updates but I think I have almost everything if not all drivers updated.
